Neil Creque Williams

Neil Creque Williams is a recent Master of Fine Arts graduate from the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts Film Production Program, with a concentration in Directing (December ’13). He is the Writer/Director of the USC Thesis film, “David’s Reverie”. The film is a musical drama about a jazz musician struggling to prevent his epilepsy diagnosis from derailing his emerging jazz career. The film stars Brandon Fobbs (“The Wire”, “Walking Dead”, “Pride”) and features original music performed by Grammy nominated musicians. It is a Panavision New Filmmaker Program recipient as well as Indiewire “Project of the Month”. At USC, Neil produced and edited the short film, “Red”, (directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples – 2011 DGA African-American Jury Award Recipient). In 2012, Neil edited the USC documentary, “Polar Opposites”, about pole-dancing as a form of feminism, that was purchased by the Documentary Channel for distribution. In addition, Neil directed and produced original content for 20th Century Fox’s film marketing department. Outside of filmmaking, Neil served as the president of the African-American Cinema Society at USC and is a two-time recipient of the USC Black Alumni Scholarship. Neil believes in community service and for the past-two years has been the team leader of the “David’s Reverie” Team at the annual Walk To End Epilepsy, put on by the Epilepsy Foundation of Los Angeles. A native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Neil has always gravitated toward filmmaking and strives to make positive films that portray characters that empower audiences. After graduating from Duke University, Neil spent a year making a documentary, called “The Silver Rights Movement”, about African-American business owners in Durham, North Carolina. He currently serves on the board of Working Films, a documentary non-profit focused on linking non-fiction film with cutting edge activism.
