TAYE BALOGUN

TAYE BALOGUN is a Film Director, Producer and a Photographer.  He attended University of Lagos where he studied Chemistry and went on to study Film at the National Film Institute, Jos – Nigeria, and he majored in Cinematography and Photography. An Alumni of OneFineDayFilm and EU Babylon Master class workshop. Taye worked with BBC, closely with the Executive Producer – Sebari Diette Spiff. He was juggling as a photographer and a producer at the time. He later co-produced is first feature film with Sebari’s company (Impression Films) titled ’12:30’. This was an anti-corruption campaign film that was supported by various anti-corruption agencies like UNODC, NFVCB, EFCC, NFC and MICROSOFT to eradicate cybercrime in West Africa and beyond. Taye took part of the National Media Committee as a Producer and Photographer during the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Nigeria (Nigeria@50). Having been listed as one of the most aspiring filmmaker in Nigeria, 2008, Taye developed his passion for teaching. He has then featured in various training workshops and taught Acting and Filmmaking at The American International School Abuja for 4years. Parts of his teachings include mentorship on career, success, pan Africanism, and film production; which he finds very engaging. He is an experienced media trainer and creative manager with funding, marketing, research and team building skills. With an international experience, Taye has directed Broadway Musicals which includes: Once On This Island, Fiddler On The Roof, and Grease respectively. He directed documentaries for International NGO’s like: Water Aid, Oxfam and Ace Africa, and consulted for various charity projects in and outside the continent e.g. The African Future, Photo Power, Studio 24 amongst others. He has 5feature films to his credit, in which he shot for African Magic – Multichoice Africa, in Kenya. With his love for food, Taye ran (Exec. Producer, Director, Host) a food show on DSTV, African Magic Entertainment – Channel 184 called ‘The Tai Show’ – It about celebrating African food and Chefs.  With a political background, this true Pan Africanist has been an active education; socio and economy advocate both on national and continental level. He’s been involved in series of youth empowerment workshops/programs where he gives free media training; spoke in over 5 Institution across the continent on pan Africanism; Entrepreneurship; and Leadership, also a strong advocate for women empowerment. He runs his mentorship on and offline and recently on a platform called Mara Mentor to over 5000 young Africans. He is the founder of STORYTELLERS www.weuseart.com – A pan African, non – governmental organization that uses the power of art to tackle socio political economic issues in Africa. Taye is also the Director of Media and Campaigns under the African Artists Peace Initiative (AAPI) www.aapiafrica.com a pan African movement for African Artists and peace makers championing the culture of peace, a platform under the Africa Union and UNESCO culture of peace. He has lead different continental and global campaign. He sits as a co-chair with ONE.org on the creative action factory within the ACTION2015 www.action2015.org global movement. With his artistic background, the CEO of Silhouette Pictures is a professional production designer who has worked on 3Award winning short and 2feature films. His artistic vision is driven by shapes, size, colors, light, texture and sound. To add to his credit are: Photographer – Nigerian Idol, Producer and Casting Director – Guinness commercial, Producer – Nigeria Independence Documentary, Consultant – The African Future. Taye is considered by friends/colleagues as a Pan Africanist as well as a passionate Filmmaker. He is blessed with an amazing Tanzania wife and a wonderful son – born in Kenya.
