Julia “Jewels” Proctor

Julia “Jewels” Proctor is a multifaceted storyteller, filmmaker, and creative entrepreneur whose work centers Black stories, healing, and legacy. As a writer and director, Jewels uses film as a mirror and a tool for transformation—telling layered, character-driven narratives that explore mental health, identity, relationships, and generational cycles. Her work blends humor, heart, and a touch of surrealism to hold space for honest conversations about growth and emotional vulnerability, particularly within the Black community. Jewels made her directorial debut with Daze, a poignant short film that follows a nightclub owner caught in a time loop, forced to confront himself and the choices that keep him stuck. The film serves as a proof of concept for a forthcoming episodic series. Her storytelling draws inspiration from both her personal experiences and a deep commitment to showcasing the nuances of Black life beyond stereotypes. Outside of filmmaking, Jewels is the founder of Dropping The Jewels, a motivational platform rooted in empowerment, and co-founder of Just Dreamy Brews, a mother-daughter tea brand that celebrates wellness, creativity, and community. Her work—whether on screen, on stage, or in a cup—embodies a singular mission: to inspire others to dream boldly, heal intentionally, and live authentically.
