Loraine Blumenthal

Loraine Blumenthal is a documentary filmmaker and producer from Berlin, Germany. She graduated in theatre and film studies, sociology and French literature in 2010. In 2012 she received her Master of Arts in Documentary Practice at the University of Bristol. Loraine has worked for TV-Channels such as ARTE in Paris and documentary production companies such as Avanti Media and Medienkontor. Mapi Liberia (2009, 45min) was her first, mid-length documentary film, which was shown at national and international festivals (Cape Winelands Film Festival/ SA, Montreal Int. Black Film Festival/CA and others). Loraine has been working as a creative producer and researcher at documentary companies such as Kloos&Co Medien, Storyhouse, Dokfilm and Boekamp & Kriegsheim. THE MAYOR S RACE is her debut feature length documentary film. It was developed with the support of the renowned MEDIA workshop Archidoc and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. THE MAYOR S RACE was shown at over 30 film festival and won “Best Documentary” amongst others at the Bronzelens Film Festival. Currently, she is developing new documentaries and is a production manager at Kobalt Productions GmbH
