Sosiessia Nixon

Sosiessia is an award-winning screenwriter, director, and film producer. As the current Head of Film and Television at ikon Media & Films, she is a driving force behind innovative and impactful storytelling. A true pioneer, Sosiessia holds the distinction of being the first Jamaican filmmaker to have a local film qualify for an Oscar nomination and the first to win an African Oscar for a local film. Her short film, 'Raw Materials,' has garnered an impressive 23 international film awards, showcasing her talent on a global stage. Her extensive filmography includes acclaimed short films such as 'Your Day is Tomorrow,' 'Drowning,' and 'Protection.' She has also made significant contributions to television, serving as writer, producer, and co-director of the Caribbean-wide series 'Revelation,' and as the creator and showrunner for the upcoming Jamaican sitcom 'Still the Millers.' Sosiessia is credited with over ten short films with her first feature-length film in pre-production. Beyond film and television, Sosiessia's creative vision extends to commercials and music videos. She has produced and written for major brands including Maggi, Scotiabank, Nestle, Visa, and Digicel, Sege Island, Tastee, and has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Spice, Shaggy, and Sean Paul, crafting compelling visual narratives for their music. Dedicated to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers, Sosiessia shares her expertise as an adjunct lecturer at Northern Caribbean University, where she lectures script and screenwriting.
