Trudy Rozani was born and raised in Mthatha and is currently based in Johannesburg. She obtained a BA in Film and Media Production, as well as an Honours degree in Film and Television Studies, from the University of Cape Town. Since then, she has worked in online journalism and made her first short film, Bittersweet, for the Youth Filmmaker Project. She later wrote and directed another short film, The Reckoning, as part of the 2020/2021 Female Filmmaker’s slate. Most recently, she wrote the television feature Samsokolo. Rozani continues to develop new projects with the goal of creating more feature films and television series, while still maintaining her passion for short films. She also hopes to pursue more episodic directing work in the future.
