Yajaira De La Espada is the founder and CEO of Mawazo Productions. She started her professional journey as a kindergarten teacher in San Antonio ISD. Later, she transitioned to teaching special education after witnessing the significant disparities faced by students of color. Yajaira earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from the University of Texas and her first Master of Science in Education (MSEd) from the University of Miami. In 2023, she completed her additional Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing from the University of Houston. In 2020, Yajaira made the courageous decision to leave traditional education systems and focus on her creative pursuits. 'Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense' marks her first major work in this endeavor. Currently, she resides in East Africa, where she is studying the Kiswahili language.
