After graduating from a South African film school called AFDA in 2006, she leaped into the T.V. industry with the Afrikaans SABC sitcom Askies, which she co-created with Teboho Pietersen. After the success of the sitcom, the team wnet on to create another successful, hybrid, teen lifestyle show for SABC 3 called Meet Joe Food. The show ran for two seasons. Yolanda has also been through the NFVF Spark writer s program and was fortunate enough to attend Robert Mckee’s story Seminar when he was in South Africa in 2011. In 2012, she was selected among 50 other African filmmakers to be part of the 5th Durban Talent Campus which is affiliated with the Berlinale Talent Campus. She was selected to take part in the Focus Features Africa First program with her short film, Hair That Moves.
