Ken Saro-Wiwa was a Nigerian writer and activist who fought against the military regime and Royal Dutch Shell for devastating the Ogoni environment. He founded MOSOP and led major peaceful protests in 1993 that brought global attention to the community’s struggles. In 1995, he and eight other Ogoni activists were wrongfully convicted and executed in retaliation for their activism.
