The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C vibrantly explores America’s history and culture through the lens of the African American experience. Designed by British-Ghanaian architect David Adjaye, it has been met with overwhelming success during its first year of operation. Through interviews and observation, Director Oliver Hardt, who frequently addresses black history and culture with a strong emphasis on architecture, takes us through the remarkable physical spaces, the palpable engagement of museum visitors, and gives us insight into the challenges faced during the design process.
