Watch THE SWORD OF MOCHUDI on kweliTV

*This film is a part of kweliTV's On The Come Up series in which we showcase the short films of promising black student filmmakers.*The Sword of Mochudi is inspired by the story of Lowe and Matsieng, two giant brothers, who according to Setswana myth, lived in the belly of the earth. The brothers agreed that Matsieng would go to the surface of the earth to explore what was above. Matsieng never returned to the belly of the earth. The film imagines the last royal member of the Matsieng line, a princess who must guard a sword that has been passed down since the time when the rocks were still soft. The Sword of Mochudi was created by a group of talented grade 6 students at The Dow Academy in Mochudi, Botswana under the direction of Ian P Venganai (Ian P Universal).
