Amid a brutal war between the Portuguese colonial army and the guerrillas of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde, Nome leaves his village to join the Maquis resistance. Years later, he returns a hero, but celebration soon gives way to bitterness and disillusion.
